GoPro only lasts until warranty expires

Two months after my Hero3+ warranty expired, the unit freezes on screen 1. Dead as a doornail. No go ever after. After going in circles for months with GoPro support and being handed over for more circles with them trying to get me to Update the software when I specifically told them the camera freezes and it had nothing to do with software, the best offer they can come up with, is \buy a new camera and we will give you 20% off".
