where is the compassion

my daughter took their dog who had been knocked by a car to the vet last night 16th March 2015 they gave the dog injection and referral letter to Animal Anti Cruelty because she couldn't afford their prices. but just for the visit last night was R866 and she asked them to send an account but no they wanted the money immediately. so she had to give whatever money she had on her and sign to pay balance by today 17th March 2015. we had been supporting this vet for years but obviously loyalty does not count for anything. I just feel the animal is the one who got the rough end of the stick here - where is the compassion?
