GOLDCAR RENTAL - AVOID AVOID BEWARE

We hired a car fro Goldcar Santorini as they were the only car rental company who still had cars available. The hire was tediously slow and they took a €1175 hold on my credit card in case of damage. That is a hold of R19500. 11 days later GOLDCAR have not released the DEPOSIT. You can imagine the impact this has had on the rest of our holiday with this amount being held against my credit card. We also had FULL COVER IN CASE OF DAMAGE OR THEFT (the maximum of any of the other car hire places we used on our Greek Island hopping trip was €350). Thrifty released my deposit from my credit card within 3 days. I called GOLDCAR customer services in Greece and was told that it takes up to a week. When I said it's now 11 days, he said "yes that is normal" . I asked if anything could be done and he said "no". It was like talking to a brick wall. Please be wary of hiring from GOLDCAR. I am not a person who gives bad reviews but in this instance they were not prepared to even discuss this with me.
