Had me travel 32km for "pawn shop pricing"

I had reached out yesterday because I had a whitengold and tanzanite ring that I no longer needed. I contacted GC via WhatsApp and that part of the process was straightforward and well organized. They asked for pictures/details and set up an appointment at the Alberton branch. Mind you, I was coming from Boksburg, so it was a 31 km trip. As I had paid R8k for my ring in 2017 I was optimistic it would hold SOME value (understanding they would offer less so they can make a profit).

When I got there, the guys were friendly. But they took a quick look at the ring and offered me R800 for it and basically said it was pretty worthless. Mind you, I got it from a reputable jeweler, so I was taken aback. I couldn't reconcile with the pawn shop pricing and left with the ring.

After paying over R200 for an Uber, it was further insult to injury to be offered 10% of what the ring was purchased for 8 years ago.

I would rather have it appraised for proper value and sell it independently or even give it to soleome who would appreciate it. Was my first, and last, experience.
