Globescope Security recently secured a subcontract at Grandwest Casino. They contacted staff at short notice with no contracts, only a call saying "we need help". My husband took the shift and turned down other work. The problems: 1.Paying R350 per shift instead of the R404 rate. 2. Refusing to pay time-and-a-half for Sundays, with management claiming "we don’t work Sundays" and "there’s no money on Sundays". Paying wages in cash, with no documentation. For his last shift my husband was paid R250. That’s R100 short of the agreed rate, R154 short of the legal rate, and R200 short of Sunday time-and-a-half. He was left stranded at Grandwest because of it. This is not how you treat people.
