Bad bad bad

I don't understand how this company work I received an email saying my parcel is out for delivery today so I try to call and find out. Am told I shouldn't mind the email I got as the parcel won't be delivered today but it gonna be delivered on Tuesday next week. I don't understand why say the parcel is out for delivery today knowing it won't be delivered to make matters worse i had to cancel my day just to be a home when the delivery arrives now am told the parcel is gonna be delivered on Tuesday why?
