Dispicable that they can do this

After years of membership, the gym closes down (or relocate so they say to miles and miles away) without even 2 weeks notice to the members. The alternative that they supply just simply does not suit us, so we cancel our membership. They tell us they will continue to bill us until end of January 2018 even though we wont use them. If we tried to cancel without notice they would surely penalise us, so why can we not cancel now that they cant fulfil their side. I want to cancel at the bank and then they threaten legal action if we don't pay till end January.

Just find this treatment totally unfair and unacceptable.
