Shoddy workmanship from Glasfit Herm****

In August 2023 I took my car to Glasfit in Herm**** to the back windscreen due to some leaks I was having in the boot, which we thought was leaking around the windscreen. They said there was rust that needed to be fixed first and referred me to a spraypainter who was supposed to have fixed the rust.

I noticed when the car came back there still appeared to be some bubbles on the roof near the windscreen. But I was remiss in not immediately taking the car back to address it. It appeared the rust had not been properly fixed up.

A year later in August 2024, the back windscreen blew out while driving. I took the car back and they redid the job at no cost. I mentioned that I had notice bubbles when I got the car back and they said I should have brought it back immediately not wait nearly a year. I can accept that.

But again, I noticed certain bubbles near the windscreen and told the spraypainter who then gave me a story about it being new rust - not the same rust he fixed previously. I don't understand how you can leave rust and not fix it whether it's new rust or not. Furthermore, the rubber was loose at the bottom of the window and he just pushed it back in place. I was not happy.

A few months later in January 2025, the windscreen blew out again! I called Glasfit and spoke to the owner, Hannes. He became defensive and combative and refused to responsiblity, claiming it was a year later that the incident happened and therefore past the guarantee, seemingly forgetting that I brought it back six month prior and it was the second time it blew out.

He passed the buck to the spraypainter, saying there was a lot of rust. But he was the one who referred to the spraypainter. My suspicion is they are on a friendly basis and refer jobs to each other.

I feel both are responsible but neither will take responsibility. Glasfit is not a little backyard operation - they are an established brand supposed to be employing certified technicians. I put my experience down shoddy workmanship on both Glasfit and the spraypainter's part. The person who replaced the windscreen for me said the sika was on the windscreen rather than on the metal frame of the car, and that's why it didn't hold and blew out.

Glasfit took no responsiblity. Poor show.
