Dissapointing
I have had a beautiful relationship with Glacier for the past 5 years until now. I currently have two streams of income one from my employer and the other from Glacier. Due to the combined income, I have owed SARS money for 2 consecutive years. I was then advised by SARS to request that Glacier increases my Tax from their side in order for my combined income to be taxed as per the relevant tax bracket.
I requested Glacier to do so. As a preventative measure Glacier increased my Retirement Annuity to decrease my Taxable income. I also requested Glacier to increase my Tax from their side as well.
After submitting my 2020 returns, I realised to my dismay that I owe SARS again and this time a larger amount than the previous year. After contacting my intermediary, I requested him to change my income frequency to annual as a possible means to pay off the new SARS debt. He then advised me that the Glacier employee that was meant to increase my Glacier Tax had not done so. Mind you I have made this request twice and was comfortable that this request was completed. I then also asked him to cancel my retirement contributions from Sanlam and I was told that I could only cancel my RA in extreme cases. Therefore he advised his subordinate to process my application to change my income frequency to annual and increase my deductable tax from R1848 to R3718 based on the assumption that I am paying RA. This is very unfair because I explicitly stated that I do not want a RA anymore and the intermediary is insisting that my income tax be increased upon the assumption that I am paying the RA, which is not what I requested.
I have since contacted Sanlam and seamlessly cancelled my RA, after being advised by my intermediary that this would not be possible. While on the contrary Sanlam managed to cancel it.
Please help?
