Sold Car BUT No Payment!

Our car was sold about 3 weeks ago. Two weeks ago we were told that our money would be paid into our account on that day. We have still not received any money. Everyday I send them messages and I phone sometimes and it's always 'sort-of' the same excuse AND they will pay the money in that day... AND nothing happens! What do we do now??? Do we go to the police?
