Shocking service and bad workmanship
I had a new garage door motor and springs fitted in March 2018. Yesterday 6 June 2019, I arrived home and as I closed my garage doors the cord holding the spring on the one side snapped and came flying down on my car almost hitting my daughter as she was getting out the car! I called Gido who sent their technician, who on arrival told me he did not have any spares and couldn't help me yesterday, and if I didn't like it I should find someone else to help me, and got in his car and drove off!. I have never had such rude service from any company before! But it gets worse.. I called them this morning to see when he would be coming to do the repair and was told that it would cost me R1950 for the call out and repair!! Firstly the heavy duty wire cord that holds the spring should NOT snap within a year, and secondly, if it was bad workmanship or inferior quality supplies that were used, why am I now responsible to pay for the repairs??!! The heavy spring could have seriously hurt my daughter when it fell or could have damaged my car, but these people now still expect ME to pay for their shoddy installation. I have NEVER experienced such bad service from anyone. If anyone is thinking of doing business with Gido Garage Doors, PLEASE DO NOT, as you will be **********!!! I now have to get somebody else in to fix their ****py job. When asked who the owner of the business is you get told by Susan, the manager, that he is not involved in the day to day running of the business and you should send an email to ********** to which I'm sure I will never receive a response. Maybe the owner should get involved in the running of the business and maybe then they will deliver better service. I am surprised they are still operating as a business with the manner in which they treat their customers!!! I will be writing to Carte Blanche about this terrible experience. Never in my life have I had such bad or rude service.
