Birthday Lunch Disaster

Today, 9th July, my family and I decided to visit Gibson's for my birthday lunch. On arrival, we asked for a table for 6 people. We got shown a table that had 2 wet chairs. The waitron asked us to wait while he fetches a towel to dry our chairs. We stood waiting for him, and ended up swapping a chair with another table before he had arrived back. We ordered drinks, and all of them arrived except one milkshake, which we waited 20 minutes for. When asking the waiter about the milkshake, he gave us a puzzled look and asked what flavour we had ordered. About 10 minutes later, a runny, unappetising "milkshake" appeared before us, with runny milkshake all over the saucer- It was clear that this had been sitting on the pass for a while. We sent it back (it's R55 for a milkshake and did not look like the picture advertised- more like a chocolate Steri Stumpie) and finally got a new one. When our food finally arrived, all of it came, except a plate of chips, and also, someone ordered sweet potato fries but got brought normal fries. Yet again, we waited and waited for the missing plate of chips, and had to call someone to follow up on the small plate of chips which was just not arriving. Burgers were served cold. We did not have one constant waiter, more like different people bringing food and drink. Only half of us had placemats. When trying to get someone's attention, no one was in site- instead we waited and waited, and finally flagged yet a different waitron down to organise our bill. We felt very un-looked after, no one checked up on the table once or asked if we would like to order anything else. On receiving our bill, we were so unbeliveably upset with the service we had received (most of us work daily with customers and know that top-notch customer service is a must in any successful business) but alas- a 10% gratuity had ALREADY been added to our bill total? Like they deserved over R100 tip? Shocking all-around service. It serms that Gibsons rather focuses all their customer attention on tourists, and just shrugs off locals - perhaps we are not important enough. We will NOT be returning.
