Please do not buy GHD Platinum!

I purchased a GHD Platinum (most expensive in the range) at the end of December 2015 for my mum. She felt that my Glampalm performed better and she swopped her new GHD for my two year old Glampalm at the time. Within the first year of using the Platinum, it malfunctioned. The light flashed red and would not heat up so GHD replaced it with a new Platinum, since it was defective. Within one and a half years, the same issue occurred with the replacement straightener. After contacting GHD twice, they responded that it was no longer under the two year warranty period - it could not be repaired, but I could purchase a new item at a 20% discount. I don't understand why the GHD Platinum is still in production. It's clear that a single item cannot last the entire two year period, without being replaced! I am now left without a working straightener and I have NO interest in purchasing another product from GHD, as this has been a terrible experience. I definitely regret buying the GHD Platinum!!! My mum's Glampalm still works and I would advise anyone to buy that instead, as it IS a good investment
