I am exceptionally disappointed that a global company such as GHD would dare to manufacture appliances that cannot be repaired or are financially not viable to repair. Such a culture of waste belongs to years past.

I will not be purchasing a GHD again. I have purchased a very cheap, simple straightener from Clicks. I suspect that I will still have it in a working condition in 10 years' time.

I will make a point of creating awareness around this company's culture of waste creation matter amongst my friends and family. I will discourage anyone from buying, especially your so-called top of the range models. I was under the impression that I was buying a quality product that would last me for years to come. This waste of (a lot) of money is sickening. Even more than the money, the waste of resources and the destruction that this sort of consumerism causes to the environment. I would love to know more about your environmentally friendly way of discarding. However, even if the discarding is truly not harmful to the environment, the energy and resources used to manufacture and distribute merchandise that is built NOT to last is disturbing. And that at a grand, global scale. Thousands? Millions? Of products manufactured to be thrown away shortly.

What bothers me further is that the original GHD lasts very well and is repairable. This prompts the question. Why make newer models that cannot be repaired? The most likely answer seems to be increased profit. More profit for a company that was already a world leader in its field. I see no problem with profit, but is it necessary to make so much more profit at a terrible cost to our own habitat?
