GHD Platinum - design fault

My Platinum straighteners have been playing up for a few months. Flashing red and not heating and now they have stopped working completely. I have only had these for a few years 2/3 and have had to go back to my 12 year old GHD's which I had gifted to my daughter. Lost all confidence in GHD. After researching this is a design fault for the Platinum straighteners. It seems GHD are going backwards in their technology ........
