GHD PLATINUM

I have been experiencing endless problems with Ghd. The first Ghd my sister’s and I purchased was the Ghd Eclipse, we purchased it the first week of it being released. After 3 months of owning the Ghd Eclipse we had to send the hair straightener back to Ghd as there was a problem with the wire (or something on those lines) and we received a new Ghd Eclipse. My boyfriend then decided to purchase the Ghd Eclipse for my birthday and after just one year of owning it the plastic casing around my Ghd Eclipse melted onto my hair, completely burning my hair beyond repair. When contacting Ghd and informing them of the issue, they informed me that they were well aware of the products defects and that is why the Ghd Eclipse had been discontinued (according to Ghd the Eclipse had been overheating for some time now). Luckily my Ghd was still under guarantee as they replaced my Ghd Eclipse with the Ghd Platinum (the latest hair straightener at the time) and gave me two Ghd products and a Ghd V for my hair burning off. I lost all faith in Ghd but after sometime, I tried using Ghd again. To date my Ghd platinum after owning it for just over 2 years broke, a red light started flashing and stopped working completely. I emailed Ghd requesting repairs, as I was uncertain if I was still within my guarantee. Ghd after quite some time responded to my email informing me that I am no longer within my guarantee and Ghd unfortunately does not repair any of their products. According to an employee at Ghd, if the hair straightener is defective and breaks and is under guarantee, Ghd simply replaces the product, but if it is out of guarantee Ghd will give you a 20% voucher provided you hand them your defective hair straightener. I was really not looking forward to paying another R3 000 or more for another Ghd and instead started to google places where I could repair my Ghd. I contacted a highly rated Ghd repair shop who informed me that my Ghd Platinum had been discontinued due to it being defective and that it was replaced with Ghd Platinum Plus. The Repairer further informed me that there are no spare parts to repair my hair straightener. I then did some further research on Ghd Platinum and found many negative reviews on HelloPeter dealing with the Ghd Platinum. These reviews were world wide and the problems they were facing were exactly the same as the problems I was facing with the Ghd Platinum. I cannot believe that once again I landed up with a defective Ghd product. Luckily this time the defect did not damage my hair. This however is a defect Ghd knew about again and was reluctant to contact their clients or put a message on social media to inform their clients about.I believe Ghd actions to be completely ********* and dishonest. I am appalled by their products and am disgusted by the dishonestly and lack of communications with their clients.
