Selling items which they know are out of stock
**From what I’m told by them most of the problems I experienced is not the fault of GettingADeal, but of their service providers or suppliers – however I had an agreement with GettingADeal so I can only give feedback as to their behavior, and them still advertising stock which they know is out of stock.
On a Sunday I inquired regarding their stock of a television set, even though the it was listed as for sale and in stock on the Website. On a Monday I was told that stock would be made available in 48 hours to collect at the warehouse. Payment was made on a Tuesday but when I inquired on a Wednesday regarding when I can collect the TV I was told that the set has not yet been released but that I would be phoned as soon as stock arrives.
Fast forward to the next Monday for a follow up regarding when I can collect the TV (as I was never phoned) when I was told that GettingADeal phoned the supplier and I was told that my TV will be ready for collection on Monday Afternoon or Tuesday morning and that I would, yet again, be contacted telephonically when I can come collect.
Once again, after not receiving any communication, I followed up the Wednesday to inquire regarding if I may collect my TV. The only reply I received was an indirect email to someone else inquiring about collection of the TV.
It was only on the Thursday more than 10 days after my initial inquiry and more than a week after making payment when I was informed that the supplier is out of stock. It was on this same day which I requested a refund, to be paid back immediately as I wanted to buy from a different shop the next day.
The next morning I was, for the first time phoned by someone from GettngADeal when they attempted to sell me another TV set at a higher price than which I paid for the first set – which was out of stock). After hearing what they had to offer, I once again asked for a refund to be paid immediately as I wanted to buy from a different shop that same day. At this point I also told then that the TV is still listed on their website as for sale and in stock and that I recommend that they remove the listing before having any other customers going through the same as what I went through.
After another follow up I was told that the refund would be made before 16:00 it was only then when I received an email stating that a refund had been processed and that it might take UP TO 10 DAYS to reflect in my account. (I realise that this is not GettingADeal directly – however they can take this up with their own service providers - I was under the impression that I would have the money immediately).
Finally after requesting an immediate payment, twice, to buy a new TV on Friday, the money only reflected in our account on Tuesday, 2 weeks after making initial payment.
It is important to note that even now, more than a week after them finding out that there is no stock at the suppliers, the same model TV which I wanted to buy and was told is out of stock at the suppliers, is STILL listed on the website as for sale, and in stock.
Buying from online retailers have always been quite a great experience for me, and I have not run into this sort of trouble from any of GettingADeal’s direct competitors.
