Unfairly treated by genesis medical

Good day.

I am currently in a situation where my daughter was admitted to hospital over a weekend and now genesis refuse to pay because they claim that I was dishonest and ********** on my application. This seems to be how genesis operate. If anyone was thinking of joining PLEASE be careful. If this has happened to you feel free to contact me on ********** 352. I am planing to contact the medical ombudsmen and a joint complaint I am sure will look very serious. The more the better . Regards Sean

Dear Mr Woods

It is unfortunate that you feel you have been treated unfairly by Genesis Medical Scheme.

According to information made available to us by your doctor, it would seem that a full disclosure of your / dependant’s health conditions was not made on your application form.

If you dispute the information that was made available to us by your doctor, kindly contact your doctor for further information.

We await your feedback.

After speaking to my doctor it was clear that you as the medical aid do not understand different medical conditions. It has nothing to do with my doctor but with the loop holes that genesis look for in order to get out off payments . It is clear that I am not the only person that genesis has done this to . Again I state that if anyone is looking for medical cover, genesis is not the place .

Dear Mr Woods

This specific case has nothing to do with understanding (or not understanding) medical conditions. It is about the non-disclosure of material information regarding your medical history prior to joining Genesis.

With reference to our letter to you dated 21 February 2018, we invited you to provide us with any comments or information that you may have and that you believe might influence the outcome of this matter. We await your written reply within 7 calendar days of the date of this letter.

Good. I have responded to your letter dating 21st February the same say and the next . It has now been 7 calender days and I have not heard a word from Genesis and yet they are deducting money. I am not sure if I still have cover or not seeing that your letter stated that termination will be recommended. ( Due to non disclosing what is relevant )

In cases of non-declaration of pre-existing conditions, the Rules of the Scheme require that the Board take some action in terms of its broader responsibility to the membership as a whole. Such action includes the termination of membership. However, before putting your case to the Board for a decision, I invite any comments or information that you may have that you believe might influence the Board in the decision it has to make. If so, please ensure that we have your written reply within 7 calendar days of the date of this letter. Yours sincerely D. van der Merwe PRINCIPAL
