HEARTLESS GENESIS
WORST MEDICAL AID EVER. THEY HAVE NO COMPASSION WHATSOVER. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. They gave her hell about the mastectomy procedure and now that she needs to have reconstruction, they won't cover at all unless she goes to a state facility. Finally got the doctor to approve doing the surgery In Tygerberg but we had to wait for covid regulations to ease. Now that it has, THEY REFUSE TO COVER ANYTHING, EVEN IN A STATE FACILITY. SO SHE MUST WALK AROUND WITH ONE DOUBLE D **** AND ONE INDENT. YOU GUYS ARE HEARTLESS!!!! They go against their word all the time.
Don't ever use genesis.

We are bound by and committed to member confidentiality and is therefore unable to respond in detail on this platform. Having said that and for the record, it is never our intention to come across as “heartless”. We deal with people - most times vulnerable people (like your mom) - and we do have an incredible amount of compassion with them. Funding decisions for treatment are however not up to the compassion of a medical scheme, but are governed by the benefits and limitations in terms of the rules of a medical scheme. At the time your mom was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer a few years ago, we did not “give her hell”. The unfortunate reality is that she selected an option which had limited benefits for cancer. The procedure that her doctor has selected to perform now, is not regarded as standard level of care or prevailing practice for the treatment of her previous cancer. Be that as it may, our Oncology Department will be in touch with your mom as soon as possible and guide her on the way forward. Take care! GENESIS MEDICAL SCHEME
