GENESIS MEDICAL SCHEME - TOOK MY MONEY AND MADE ME PAY FOR IT
TERRIBLE - they are shocking when it comes to service and do not pay out. When my membership was cancelled they have taken off admin fees to the amount of over R4,722 when I have not claimed anything! Effectively just taken my money for a year and charged me for it! Apparently they are known at the hospitals for not paying. Please avoid - I am a single mother and now left with huge debt

We are disappointed at the fact that you view Genesis in a bad light, as according to the information available to Genesis and not refuted or disputed by you, material information was omitted from the application form when you joined the Scheme.
In addition, and despite being afforded every opportunity to deny, refute, challenge or to produce proof of an error in regard to the information available to Genesis, you have not denied the accuracy of said information about your past medical history that was not disclosed.
The Board of Trustees has a broader responsibility to the membership as a whole, particularly those applicants who fully declared details of previous medical conditions, when joining and were subject to the Scheme’s normal underwriting criteria.
The issue of medical scheme non-disclosure is viewed so seriously by the Legislature that it provides for termination of membership and it declared such behavior, when coupled with the submission of claims against a medical scheme, as a ******** offense.

05 Nov 2024, 14:00Indeed, I did in fact dispute this as I have not had any issues with the above 'material' that was omitted for more than 2 years before joining. Furthermore, I also requested information from the advisor who placed me on the scheme which was denied. Having read the other reviews it seems this is not an isolated incident, and a tactic regularly used by Genesis. Most hospitals do not want to take on Genesis patients as Genesis is very well known for not paying out. It is shocking that you think you can take almost R5k from me, without my permission
