Genesis Medical aid interrogation- disgusting.

When the stars came to review, I didn't even want to press 1 star, I was hoping there would be a minus option. Disgusting, terrible, atrocious, rude, threatening. Genesis have been appalling preceeding by recent admission to hospital. The day before at 15h45, receiving a threatening phone call from a consultant trying her best for me to confess that I hadn't declared information previously for what I was going to be admitted for and warning that they will not pay if there was anything wrong with me if any further procedures need to be done. Then, not informing my specialist that it was approved, after I asked them to please contact him via email or phone that it's approved. All stalling in an attempt to mess up admission and possibly not be liable to pay.

Saying it was protocol on first admission, when I had been admitted in 2021 already and had nothing like this. She informed me what "other " people do on the scheme. Basically insinuating I am a lier and interrogating me like a ********. As I was going in for a heart condition, this made it worse. All of a sudden Genesis are requesting my whole families files from our GP, which had nothing to do with my admission and procedure, they needed motivation letters from my specialist. (Which may be protocol sometimes, in the context of what already happened, was just a stalling process). This was All in an attempt not to pay for my hospital stay and procedures.

Please check out the Financials of this company (just Google it) and member statistics. It explains a lot. Please don't join Genesis Medical Aid. Save yourself a lot of stress!!!!!

Dear Mrs Prinsloo  The content of your review is noted.  In this regard, we would like to refer you to our correspondence to you yesterday, whereby we thanked you for bringing the matter to our attention with regard to the manner in which our Consultant had spoken to you.  We have subsequently addressed the matter internally and have taken the necessary corrective action.  We realise that it is very stressful to be admitted to hospital, and that care and empathy are at all times of utmost importance.  Furthermore, please be assured that it is NEVER the Scheme’s intention to stall or delay the funding of any treatment to our members.  Having said that, it is important for you to co-operate with us and to understand that the Scheme is in need of additional clinical information relating to your admission.  As requested, please will you allow your doctor(s) to provide the relevant clinical information to the Scheme, as without this information, we are unable to proceed.  We wish you a speedy recovery.  Yours sincerely  GENESIS MEDICAL SCHEME

Of course you are stalling, just look at the other comments regarding Genesis. POPI act means I do not have to release any information to anyone I feel does not require it. What do you need everyone's information for? Ridiculous. I have co operated with the scheme in every way legally I have meant to. You will go ahead with payments for me recent admission.

Dear Mrs Prinsloo

Please understand that the Scheme has nothing to gain by stalling the approval for your recent admission.  It is also not  -  as you refer to it  -  ridiculous to request the required clinical information from your doctor(s).

The delay is in fact not on our side, but on your side, as you have instructed your doctor(s) not to provide the information as requested to Genesis.  May we remind you that, in the contract that you signed with the Scheme, you agreed to “irrevocably authorise my doctor or any other person, who may be in possession of any information concerning my health or that of any of my nominated dependants to disclose, even after my or their death, such information to the Scheme.”

Medical schemes in South Africa are legally entitled to all medical information of their members and dependants prior to joining a scheme.  To this end, we urge you to co-operate and to allow your doctor(s) to provide the Scheme with the relevant clinical information.

The Scheme is unable to proceed with claims assessing or the payment thereof, without having received this information.

Yours sincerely

You have received the information from the specialist involved!! Please don't make me seem like you haven't received it. That is false and defamation on character on this platform. Stop making me the ******** in this case. Why would you need information about my husband and daughter aswell? That is ridiculous! That doesn't make sense, when this has to do with me and my admission. All underhanded and very suspicious.

 Dear Mrs Prinsloo
It is not the Scheme’s intention to aggravate you or to cause any of the actions that you assert.

We have contacted your doctor’s rooms again.  They confirmed that they have not sent the information to Genesis, as you have instructed them not to do so.
May we suggest that you speak to your doctor in this regard, as we will no longer entertain the matter on this platform.
Yours sincerely
