Poor service from Sydney Hunt Motors - GM Group in Vryburg - South Africa

My Opel Corsa 2014 had a problem with a fan motor during the weekend of 11 March 2017. On Monday 13 March 2017 I requested GM motors roadside assist to take the vehicle to the nearest dealership that was in Vryburg. They loaded the car during the morning and in the afternoon around 15h00 I phoned Sydney Hunt motors in Vryburg to confirm that the vehicle is there, because nobody phoned me.

Monday 13 March 2017.

I spoke to Mr Marius who is the workshop manager about the car. He said that he is swamped with broken cars and he will see what to do, maybe Tuesday. I said to him that he need to order the radiator fan motor ASAP because according to one of the other dealers that I spoke with, there is only three of those fans in SA. I said that he must PLEASE order it and also remember to check a water leak on the engine top. He said that he will see to it the same day. I also mentioned to him that we are renting a car beacause this car is used for work and we are losing money if this car does not operate.

Wednesday 15 March

I phoned Marius again and confirm if the part is ordered, he said that he will check and let me know ASAP.

NEVER PHONED THAT DAY.

Thursday 16 March 2017

Around 13h00 I phoned again to confirm and said to Marius that he was supposed to phone me the day before, he said that he forgot.

I asked him if the part is picked up from the supplier and if the part will arrive in time. He confirmed that the part is on its way and will be fitted early Friday Morning. I also asked him about the water leak. He said that he forgot about it but will make sure that it is checked today. I said to him that the car must then be fixed before 10h00 on Friday because I need to be back in Kathu by 12h00. I know that the part to be installed starting early the morning will take 30minutes.

He confirmed that I can pick the car up around 10h00.

Friday 17 March 2017

I arrived at the dealership around 9h30. When I came in they said that the car is not finished. When I get to the workshop the mechanic only started then to check the water leak that was mentioned on Monday AND Thursday. Marius said that someone tamperred with the housing that caused the leak and that there was some kind of glue being used I said to them that this is impossible and they need to prove this to me because this car is working every day from 6h00 to 18h00 for a driving school and cannot be tampered with for nothing AND its under guarantee.

They never inspected this fault beforehand, and the excuse is now that they dont have the correct parts for this vehicle and they can only get it on Monday. Note that I asked him about this fault twice in the week.

After an two hour argument and me missing my meetings and my Wife losing bussiness for a wholeweek and renting a vehicle for the past week...ON OUR COST!!! nothing was resolved. The manager tried to rent a vehicle in Vryburg but with no luck. He said that there is nothing to do sorry.

This whole episode is because of incompetence of people, poor management and poor service from the GM dealer.

NOTE: I had the same scruff almost a year ago when my breaks and breakpads was damaged on 40000 km. I had to take the same route and Sydney Hunt motors was the dealer that needs to replace and fix the car. All the cost was on me. They said that I need to pay the wear parts because its not guaranteed. They never tried to speak to GM about this problem. I am driving a Toyota Hilus and I replaced Breaks ONLY on 165000 km. Their excuse......Its a driving school ---BULLs%^^$t. We are in bussiness for around 15 years now and never changed clutches or breakpads before its time. Again GM dealer did not take part in assisting with renting a vehicle. They said that there is a two day delay because of authorizations.

My problem is that This Dealer should have phoned me on Monday on arrival of my car. Then assited me in renting a car. then ordered all parts as requested by me and inspected the water leak the same day. All this would have taken a mechanic 1 hour. Then he could have continued with is other work. NO updates from the GM dealer. I phoned everytime.

The dealership does not have a proper reception or an area that we can sit down and enjoy a coffee. The area that the do have is directly in the sun, a table with chairs across the spares reception area, all the spares received is laying around you while sitting in the sun looking at spares and the petrol pumps. IT IS SCRUFFY !!! The Workshop is not up to a good standard. They dont even sit protection over the mudguards when working on your vehicle.

I went to Mahindra Vryburg the same day....WOW !!! what a place!!! Will buy a vehicle from them. Their workshop is CLEAN, SHINY and in order. Reception is friendly and the dealers greets you with a smile and you feel welcome.

Sorry but I'm very disappointed with GM and its dealership in Vryburg.
