Major Flaw in General Motors Service Schedule Changes

After taking my car in to a Local GM garage due to water leaking from the radiator water bottle I was informed that the radiator was blocked to a point that it needed replacing. I requested that they investigate and inform me what the cause of the problem was. I was then informed that the cause was due to the engine coolant not being present/expired. I requested a service maintenance schedule plan, I went through my old records and found that the same dealer completed my services and never replaced my engine coolant.

I took the paperwork to the dealer and they found that when those services took place they still worked of an older service plan which showed that the coolant would only have been replaced at a later service. So by the time I took my car for service (where they would have replaced the coolant according to the old service plan) they were already on the new service plan that showed that they had to replace it at earlier services and subsequently they completely missed a crucial part of my vehicle service.

All services in question (Old and new service plan) was completed at the same dealer, they said I must take it up with General Motors HQ which I did. GMHQ came to a conclusion twice that it is not their fault, after fighting and re-explaining that it was either the dealer or HQ fault depending on what systems they have in place to prevent this from happening they re-opened the case. They finally got back to me today saying that there would be no compensation as 2 of my services (None of the services in question) was not done at a registered dealer.

My concern is that how many vehicles suffered the same fate, how many people sustained large losses due to this service and maintenance schedule record. Not only did I pay R12000.00, my car likely sustained engine damage, I spent 2 weeks without my car (No replacement) and at no stage did anyone at GM apologised or even contacted me with regards to this situation, even after my local branch Robertson Branch informed me that the problem was with HQ.

I am not a complainer, I am definitely taking this further with a legal team, I just needed to inform the remainder of the GM community what to expect and what results they might face.

I failed to upload relevant documents, please feel free to email me and get all the relevant documents.
