GM for "General Mathata" Worst GM dealership for 2016 goes to Barloworld Centurion!

On the 1st of April this year I booked my in my Opel Zafira OPC at GM Barloworld Centurion for diagnosis as it was smoking.

They couldn't find the problem so the car had to stay over for the weekend, it took them 3 days to figure out that an oil cap needs to be changed. So okay I authorised the oil cap and then after some tests they tell me that a tappet cover, gasket and plugs needs to be changed as well so I authorised those as well and just for those things the total amount came to a whooping R9400!

So fine I drove the car home and guess what? still smoking! so I thought maybe the oil just needs to burn out.

So I drove it for about a day or two and just got worse So I took the car back, I spoke to the technician who worked on it (Anton) he said I must drive for about 300KM it will go away. Fine I took the car for a long drive over the weekend for about 500KM. I continued to monitor the smoke and it was still smoking, so one morning on my way to work the car eventually gave up it started smoking again and gradually lost power and came to a halt. This was the first time this car got stuck and the beginning of my nightmare with GM Centurion.

I took the car back this was around mid-April, after some few days they established that it was some turbo pipe that was cracked and needed replacement so one of the technicians (Johan) modified the current pipe so the car could drive while I look for the pipe which was good. At this point the car seemed fine but however it was still smoking. I managed to get the pipe and it was installed. The service advisor advised me that there is recall campaign on my vehicle and that I should make a booking to have it checked out and that they will investigate the smoking issue further.

Long story short I got a date for the recall so they changed the parts for the recall campaign but however not all the parts some parts were still outstanding and that they will call me when they arrive. I was told I could drive the car home that day they like doing incomplete rush jobs. I took the car around 5:30pm that day and let me tell you I never made it home that night, the car overheated and blew the head 10km before i got home, you see the recall campaign involved changing one of the coolant pipes and the technician on duty (Johan) forgot to fill up the car with coolant after draining it all probably in a hurry as it was a long weekend.

This was after I asked if I need to add coolant to the car he said to my face that that he filled the car up with antifreeze his words were "moenie worry nie daar is genoeg" so I believed him and drove home so after being towed by the insurance when we got home and inspected the car there was no single drop of antifreeze or water for that matter (I filled the car with 8 liters of water it was completely empty).

I towed the car back to GM and they inspected and told me the head has cracked, they tried to fix it but was not fixable. They told me they have to order a new head for me, but when I spoke to the service manager (Henrik Erasmus) he tells me that they will order a refurbished head for me this didn't sit well with me, is this common practice for GM to order refurbished parts for all their customers?? or just me? they say they don't have these heads anymore. So I called the warehouse and they have stock so who's fooling who here??

I called Hendrik again after a day to tell him I’m not satisfied with the refurbished head and he told me he'll order from another place and that they'll keep me posted. my car was taken in on the 25th of April 2016 and to this day I have not received a single call or any form communication from GM. the only way to get any form update I have to call them or go there, the service is just pathetic to say the least and the level of incompetence is simply appalling from above to all the way to the bottom. The service advisor is Richard and every time I speak to him he says he'll call me back it's been over 40 days and I'm still waiting. He also spoke of a refurbished head from SAC I told myself to give them time to do their job but I’ve officially reached my threshold. I have a huge disdain for mediocrity and this is up there. I ask that this be escalated at GM and please give attention to this I’m being treated like ******* and can the right people be allocated to assist me. Thank you.
