Can you Trust GMSA Franchisees?

I am the 3rd owner of a 2012 Captiva which I bought in December 2014. with about 49000 km's on the clock.<br> One of the main reasons I bought it was to have some warranty and service plan on the car. The warranty guide indicated that the car was first sold in September 2012. The service record indicated that the next service was due in October 2015 or when it reach 60 000km's. I took the car for service in June 2015 on 60 000km's thinking that it will still be covered by the service plan. I received a call from the GM dealership telling me the plan has lapsed and it will be for my account. Their system of course showed that the car's warranty kicked in during January 2012 which I did not dispute - how can I - I am just a simple customer who believed what was written in the service book and of course don't have access to their systems. I logged a call with GMSA and spoke to the manager of the service department who basically told me that it is my problem as they cannot take responsibility for what is written by a franchisee in the life book of their cars. Really? Now I have to get my lawyer to sort out a very simple matter which I think GMSA should have resolved.
