Warning: I found General Cleaners’ advert in the Smart-Ads flyer for Johannesburg South. See the emails that followed their supposedly “professionally steam clean carpets” From: Wilma Brand Sent: 2016/05/04 11:48:10 AM To: *** Subject: Disappointed customer Hi, I wish to let you know how dissatisfied I was with the carpet cleaning that was done at my home on March 24th. I called Martin the same day to tell him that I was not happy with the service and that the bed had not even been moved so the carpet was only cleaned around the sides. Marin said they would come and redo it after the long weekend - I have never heard from him since. Martin was in a big hurry that day, maybe because of the long weekend, don't know but he said they were in a hurry and did not even have time for coffee. Even the lounge carpet is not completely clean and as it dried there were dark marks and when I vacuumed there was a lot of chemical residue coming off. The carpets were also very wet and took days to dry - the ad says steam cleaning, not chemical cleaning, which to my knowledge does not leave the carpets that soaking wet. For the 1 hour work they did it was definitely not worth R750 and I'm really a dissatisfied customer. Please let me know what will be done to rectify the matter, if anything or a refund will also be in order. You don't have to be mind readers to know that a queen size bed needs to be moved to clean underneath it, I didn't know this was a special instruction (I don't think this is extra work either) - I would have thought that a carpet cleaning service, (professional as you said) would automatically do that without being instructed to do so. The reason I did not mention this before paying was that everything in the room was piled on top of the bed and nothing put back in the original place and could therefore not see that the bed had not been moved until I replaced everything to its original space. Is it common practice to clean around furniture as opposed to moving it? As I said in my previous mail, it was the start to the Easter weekend and Marin did this job in a great hurry - he said as much. We are pensioners and R750 is a lot of money for us to pay for an unsatisfactory service.
