UNFAIR TREATMENT AND BAD COMMUNICATIONS BY GEMS

On 6 September 2021 I slipped at home, fell and sustained 6 fractures of my left arm and elbow. The orthopaedic surgeon at Louis Leipoldt Mediclinic indicated that the only option to treat the fractures would be to operate. I was taken to theatre and due to the complex nature of the fractures I was in theatre for almost 6 hours. I now received an account from Louis Leipoldt Mediclinic about an outstanding amount of R41,215.82 that GEMS for a prosthesis that GEMS does not want to pay, DESPITE A MOTIVATION BY THE ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON, about the severity of the fractures of the left arm. Upon enquiring from GEMS they just indicated that funds are exhausted. I want to know where the average person gets this amount and further on, I had no idea how many prostheses were going to be required to stabilize the 6 fractures. I definitely did not plan to fall and break my arm at 6 places. I already has to also pay for the physiotherapy sessions myself as this is of the utmost importance in the rehabilitation process.
