Ridiculous rule changing, that can threaten lives

<p>I have been trying to add my mom onto my medical aid since February 2017. They assured me that after resubmitting the forms with an added detail, that she would be a registered member from the 1st of March and will be able to use the medical aid from the 1st of June. This was done telephonically and I assume that phone call was recorded for proof. I received a letter in the post today saying that her membership had been cancelled. After calling, and waiting for over 20 mins on hold, I was told that she can only start using the medical aid from August. </p> <p> </p> <p>That is totally ridiculous and I fail to understand how they can change their minds as to when she can start to use her medical aid. I am a dedicated and loyal member of GEMS, however this service it totally uncalled for. Surely there is something someone can do???? GEMS obvioulsy will not take any responsiblity should my mom need medical attention while they sit in their comfy offices. I will have to pay from my teacher's salary. They need to review their phone records and live up to promises made by their call centre operators,</p>
