REFUND FOR UNPAID MEDICLINIC HEART HOSPITAL BILL

I was admitted to Mediclinic Heart Hospital after a heart attack in April 2013. GEMS rejected an amount of R15200.00. I was compelled to pay the above mentioned amount to the hospital which affected me financially and emotionally. I enquired telephonicaly but was informed that the hospital did not get authorisation. It must be noted that this was not just ordinary sickness, but a heart attack. The hospital on the other hand indicated that they submitted a request for authorisation and if the hospital did not submit and GEMS saw that why did they not resolved that with the hospital unless they just don't want to pay bills. On 04/03/16 I wrote a letter to GEMS requesting them to refund me since I paid the hospital. On the 18/03/16 I got an sms from GEMS that they received my correspondence and on the 19/03/16 another sms that my correspondence enquiry is being processed. On 05/04/2016 I got the last sms as follows:Services by Mediclinic Heart Hospital rendered on 19/04/13 will be processed on 15/04/16. When I enquired I was told that the claim has been rejected. To date I have not received a written reply or response on this matter. Please assist me to get my refund as I need it.

Good day Mole4287,
Thank you for affording GEMS the opportunity to respond to your concerns.
Your claim was reopened by GEMS on following your appeal. The Scheme has been in contact with your your service provider to obtain an angiogram report. The report unfortunately confirmed that the funding criteria was not met as the medicine is only funded when used in patients with in-stent restenosis. Due to the above, we regret to inform you that the request for a prothesis remains declined.
Please accept our most sincere apologies for the way in which this matter was initially communicated to you. We believe a GEMS agent has been in contact with you to discuss the above.
Yours in service,
The GEMS Online Team
