Not Depressed enough to have medication covered by GEMS

I was referred by my GP to see a Psychiatrist. I checked on the list of Designated Service Providers and there were NONE listed in the Western Cape. We enquired with GEMS, and my husband had to send multiple emails until finally they rep****. After a month, i got a list. So i make the appointment with THEIR designated provider. He treats me, diagnoses me and gives me a script for medication to treat my condition. GEMS denies me the medication and lies to my husband that they contacted the Dr to discuss. I am currently on NO medication thanks to GEMS. Why? Because my Major Recurrent Depressive Disorder is not important enough to be treated. I am not Bi-Polar.

Disgusted in GEMS. Why do we pay monthly installments, and attend only your designated service providers if you were not going to pay anyway???
