No optometry benefit for degenerative eye decease

My wife has a eye disease called Keri****onis, her eyes in reality need to be assessed every 6 months, Her eyes are generally getting worse and with Gems they only pay every 2 years for new glasses and contacts...To add to all this not only does she have this but she has cataracts forming in both eyes which will need to be removed and will probably also need laser surgery to improve her vision. So until May (this year when the two years is up) she has to sit with a almost two year old contact lens and spec's prescription She teaches high school children and as a family we have to see her vision get worse this is heart breaking and as a family this effects her ability to work and to drive at night....but GEMS don't give a dam because the two year waiting period is not up yet!!!
