No epidurals for GEMS mothers

If you are a GEMS member, take note that GEMS, in the recent past, has stopped paying for epidurals for pain relief during labour. Be prepared to go through labour like your grandmother did, or be prepared to pay for that service yourself.

If you do get an epidural during labour and deliver ******lly without complications, they pay, but if you develop complications and need a caesarian section, they refuse to pay for the epidural.

Keep in mind that GAP cover generally only pays for something if the medical scheme has already paid for that partially.
