Misrepresented Pensioner
Good day
Last year November I reapp**** for my medical aid with GEMS and followed the process they advised me on. I followed up the application with constant phone calls and correspondences between myself, GEMS and GEPF for my medical subsidy to be approved. Through the entire process I never received proper answers and GEMS kept claiming that they have never received the approval letter or any correspondence from GEPF. I made a call again today and spoke to one of the consultants, it's just that I do not remembers who he said he was but if calls are truly recorded for security purposes then it can be traced. The guy I spoke to told me that GEPF has never sent any approval and he will not be able to assist because the records do not show any payment from GEPF (subsidy). I decided to call GEPF and their records show that they have been paying my subsidy from January 2022 an amount of R1624 and the last payment was done on the 21 April 2022, which means GEPF has been contributing R6496 to GEMS and GEMS did not adjust my contribution of R2588 to R964. I am frustrated by the service that I have received as I am a pensioner therefor I requested my daughter to speak to GEMS on my behalf. She called them and spoke to a lady who said her name is Prudence Tsotetsi, who refused to assist her without a Power of Attorney. the consultant did not want to listen what the query was about and even after explaining that they need communicate with me for the proof of payment from GEPF. They concluded the call with no solution to the problem. Currently GEMS owes me R6496, a contribution by GEPF, because I have been paying R2588 monthly till now in April whereas I could have paid R964. Their service and treatment is absolutely uncalled for, I am pensioner I need that money and I cannot afford to be ********** just like that. you can check your records on the amount of times I have called, I need my refunds asap
