MEMBERSHIP BULLY TACTICS

A GEPF repre incorrectly advised that pensioners could be on ny medical aid and still receive state subsidy so I resigned from GEMS in July errecfive 30/9 to join another MA. my HR advised me of the error so within a few days I requested reversal of my termination request. Then my nightmare started. Hundred of rand on calls kept on hold, resubmission of new application forms (20 pages) 3 times, unacceptable delays only to reach end of September with no membership. A Liaison Officer escalated the matter but in the end I am registered as a new member but am badly punished for my error. 1 month no cover plus 3 months waiting period during which no medication, treatment or access to benefits. I am in my 60's which a PMB Chronic condition but GEMS have chosen to exclude me and put me at risk. I am disappointed in GEMS whose motto is the care of his members health.
