Marara Pharmacy should never have replaced Medipost Pharmacy as GEMS Chronic Medicine Designated Service provided. This decision will kill patients who have to use this service
GEMS made a major error in changing their chronic medicine courier Pharmacy from Medipost (who gave good service) to Marara Pharmacy (who use DSV Couriers) from 1 April 2023. Marara claim for the medication, wait for GEMS to pay the claim, then wait at least a week before dispatching medicines via DSV courier which takes another few weeks to deliver, often to the wrong address, if they deliver at all. The DSV Couriers have never made a correct delivery yet. This is unacceptable for chronically ill patients who need their daily medications. We changed to another designated Pharmacy, but Marara keeps making claims preventing us from using the changed designated pharmacy. Today was the last straw. DSV Couriers tracking has indicated that one of my medicines was delivered to me today at 9.43 am. This didn't happen. No one knows where the medicine is, no documentation giving proof of delivery can be found and its another total mess. Since April, I have had to resort to taking half doses until I ran out of chronic medicines for a number of medical conditions, thereafter going without meds when they ran out. Will GEMS please stop using Marara Pharmacy as patients lives are continually at risk due to bad service delivery. Is it GEMS and Marara Pharmacy policy to make as many errors as possible, not to provide medicines timeously in order to try to kill off chronically ill or elderly patients?? I'm seriously beginning to think so. Time for the Ombudsman or Journalists (Daily Maverick comes to mind) to do a thorough investigation as to the inside nonsense going on within GEMS, Marara Pharmacy and DSV Couriers
