My sister was with Gems for over 10 years unfortunately she passed away in April.so i had to move her kids to my medical aid which is Gems also, in April i went to the pretoria branch to ask for the kids to be moved to my medical aid the agent at the branch told me that the kids will be not put on waiting period as they were still covered under their mothers medical aid when i asked for them to be moved to mine… After application were sent few weeks later I received an sms saying that in order for my dependents to be cover i need to accept TnCs my mistake I accepted without realising that the kids were to put on a waiting period as soon as I realised that i called Gems it took 2 weeks going back and forth on the matter on the 3rd of June i was happy that the matter was finally resolved and the waiting period was revoked on the conditions that i have to make payment for the arrears for the month of may which according to the agent was gonna be R540 which will be debited in july via persal and the employer will also pay the arrears i was ok with the arrangements… Today the 8th of June i received an sms stating that im in arrears of R2400 i made a call to query this and i was told the person who advised me was wrong and the agent was calling from membership department which doesn’t deal with contributions i then asked how was I supposed to know all that information i was told there’s nothing they can do in this case i must just lay a complain against the person for advising me wrongful…I utterly disappointed with all this as now im being threatened that should i not make the payment my medical aid will be suspended meanwhile i have actually made a payment for the month of may but now my membership will be suspended… Please Hello Peter assist me in this regard
