I have been ********** by the government medical aid 🎟️

I have been a member of Gems since 2009 on Emerald option. I had never missed a monthly payment and I had no bad experiences. But lately things have changed. I took an early retirement on 31 January 2022 because my life was in danger and did not want to love my family in disrupt due to an unexpected death. That is I took a step to take an early retirement. The clerk at Pension Department of Education asked me whether I wanted to continue with my medical aid. I fully agreed and was very excited that my health will be taken care after an early retirement. Recently I went to Gems offices at Maritzburg Arch to find out about when can I use my medical aid.To my surprised I was flabbergasted to learn that I was owing Gems R6.000. Luckily I did not faint because I was very shocked to learn that I was owing a lot of money. The administrative lady called head office because I was now shouting and very angry. Shen then handed over a landline telephone and spoke to another. The lady from GEMS head office bluntly told me to pay R60.000 that I was owing and then my medical aid will be re-instated. Now I was very calm ,I then asked her why I was owing such huge amount Gems. She told me that I have not been paying my premiums since 01 February 2022. I asked her why must I pay R6.000 because since 31 January 2024, I have never used Gems medical aid. She told me that in order for my medical aid to be reinstated,I have to pay R6.000 and I will be able to use my medical aid. How dare you are trying to rip me off ‼️
