I added a dependent from one medical aid to Gems

I added a dependent from one medical aid to Gems. For no reason he was put on a 3 month general waiting period. The dependent has a heart condition, so I declined the underwriting. Gems contacted me and assured me that the waiting period EXCLUDED cover for the pre-existing heart condition or emergencies that may arise. Based on this, I added the dependent. Now he is experiencing heart problems and Gems is refusing to authorise any treatment due to the waiting period. As they state all calls are recorded, I have requested they review my correspondence with them, and confirm that I was misled. I am merely told by a call centre agent that if I do not like the underwriting, I should not have signed it. This is so dishonest of Gems. If I resign the dependent, will I be refunded the contributions made over the last two months, which were paid under false information, for nothing? Shocking. What is the point of seeking clarity when you are sold lies? If considering Gems, don’t waste your time or money.
