Good Day I am writing this review on behalf of my husband who is the main member of gems medical aid, please see information below for your urgent attention, my husband has since been contributing for two additional dependants since last year November 2020 and we are stiil on a waiting period till April 2021 so please provide clarity on this matter also , because my understanding on the waiting period is 3months but we have to wait for 6months before our benefits are active this is an unfair treatment, this matter will also be escalated to the ombudsman. And also explain the duductions and reimburse him accordingly or we will have to cancel the medical aid and all the monies contributed will have to be paid back.

My details are as follows:

Name and surname: Johannes Namane Mahlaba Membership no: *** Option: Emerald ID No: ***084 I resigned from my previous employer National Department of Health in August 2020 and started new job at my current employer Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) on the 01 September 2020. I have been a member of GEMS from 2006 to date with myself as a main member and my two dependent (2 X kids) and from October 2020 to December 2020 I have been trying to add two dependents Lebogang Petersen and Nkanyezi Mabuza (1 X Adult and 1 X Child). Though it was being delayed for sometime, it has now being resolved by including them however they are going to be eligible to start consulting from April 2021.02.22

My complains are as follows, there have been huge inconsistent deductions amounts from my salary to GEMS without any explanation, tis now feels like a *******. The deductions from my salary from starting with a new employer:

No deductions for this two months: September 2020: No deductions by GEMS

October 2020: No deductions by GEMS

According to HR, even the month of March 2021 the following will happen:

March 2021: 30-0006 R 10,861.00

Total deducted to date: R40,277.00 (four months) excluding March 2021, it means my whole salary is going to GEMS………No ways.

May you kindly refund me what is due back to my account and stop deducting extra amount from my salary. Stick to deducting what is due to you. It will be appreciated if the matter can be address quickly, before the next deduction and lets avoid going legal route for your mistake and unprofessional conduct. You need to learn to be informative and consultation before just budging into people’s account without professionally communicating with them.
