I am baffled but not surprised. After all its SA Government regulated. Medical Aid is just as much as a **** as insurance companies. You pay thousands monthly but when you want to claim there are all types of Bull#@^&. We activated our medical aid recently on the Tanzanite One option which is all we can afford. Bad luck hit when my son was on a rugby tour a few weeks ago and injured his knee. We gave it a few weeks to see if the swelling came down on the advise of the team DR. After a week he still had paid and we decided to take him to our GP. He then said we need to see a Specialist which we did who ordered an MRI. A day before the appointment date we get a call saying that the scan costs R9 800.00 and the medical aid will only cover R7 231.00. Firstly this is why the country and consumers stay financially distressed as who will just have a few thousand lying around. Secondly we are covered as per their (GEMS) very own pamphlet we received and on their website that under Radiology (Advanced) for R13 017.00 per beneficiary per year so why must we do a co-payment. Thirdly conveniently Morton and Partners rates are apparently matched with what the Medical Aid will cover. I will have to take this further as its **************** and no sentiment on the general public but about money...................... Shocking
