GEMS refusing authorisation
I had fractured my right ring finger in September 2021. I had been to casualty and due to work constraints can only go for my operation now. Medscheme who administers GEMS refuses to give an authorisation number saying I have a waiting period. My 3 months General waiting period ended long ago. Then the Manager/s refused to take my call.

22 Feb 2022, 15:33So a lady called me and was helpful and agreed that I have no waiting periods and that my injury was a new event post joining GEMS. She also saw that GEMS had paid for my const last September when the injury happened and said that she will send all info to Medical review department and that she will transfer me to per Auth department. A guy came on the line and after explaining everything again and what Underwriring had said he ( in a very sarcastic voice) told me " with all due respect you have a 12 month waiting period and that it will be sent to forensics " which is might add ticked me off even more as this idiot didn't listen and refused to listen. When I asked that he speak to Medical Review or to transfer me he put me through to switchboard. Medscheme your staff is rude, arrogant and has no sense of client interaction and fail to see anyone's point of view but yours. When I asked what 12 month condition specific waiting period I have he couldn't answer. I am laying a CMS complaint.
