GEMS MEDICAL AID

I was a member of GEMS since January 2007…..my own membership (Onyx)…..I retired end of July 2016….on 31 May 2016 I cancelled my membership and on 1 June 2016 I went on my son’s GEMS membership (Emerald …later Emerald Value ) as dependant 01, as I was now a pensioner. My son got a job at a private company, to start 1 January 2022. On 2 December 2021 I started to communicate with GEMS to get my own membership at GEMS again….I am a member of GEPF. I send in my paperwork….never to receive any feedback…after 2 days ( the 48 hours they told me on the phone ) I phone….they told me I must complete another form….I did that immediately….just to get no response again….after 48 hours I phone again….they found another mistake….this way it went on until January 2022….then eventually I heard from GEMS just to inform me that I now have a waiting period of 3 months 😢….I cancelled everything, because my paperwork was submitted in time….with no response from GEMS….I then decided to try and find another medical aid….I phoned GEMS for my membership certificate on 28 February 2022…they told me it must come from the main member….my son send GEMS an e-mail on 28 February 2022…just to hear nothing once again…then he phoned….received an e-mail to say the will respond in 48 hours…up until today ….Tuesday 15 March 2022 we did not yet received the membership certificate!!!!!!😢 Elizabeth van Deventer.
