GEMS delays payout for a pregnant woman on the maternity plan.
If I could give this medical aid (Maternity Programme) no stars I would.
I found out I was pregnant and contacted Gems to switch me over to the maternity programme. Everything was going smoothly until I had to put in a claim. The first claim for my entire pregnancy - my first ultrasound at 13weeks.
My struggle started with when I put in a claim and they said my banking details were incorrect, even though I’ve been with GEMS for almost 8 years and haven’t changed my bank since. They accepted, and then after the fact requested a certified ID and proof of address, which I then submitted. I’ve been following up for the past 3 weeks, hoping to not miss the payment run - I ended up missing it and now still do not have my money.
I spoke on the phone with what seemed like an understanding lady, which then turned around to say they never received the proof of address of their colleague and that insinuated that the late payment was MY FAULT. If I had submitted the documentation all at once, I would been paid out timeously.
I am now 22weeks pregnant and still haven’t received the money for my FIRST ultrasound and I’m due now for my second ultrasound which I’m already delayed in going because the first ultrasound was not paid out.
This makes me so anxious for my birthing experience, which is not healthy for a pregnant woman to be, especially at 22 weeks pregnant.
The most pathetic service I’ve received. Ever.
