GEMS will let you down when you really need it.

1. My son went for ear operation, using a network Dr and Network hospital. According to the Dr he didn't put any prices he just charged using the Codes that GEMS provided which were the agreed rates, but surprisingly there is still a Co-payment.

2. My wife joined my Med Aid in Feb 2018 with benefit date being 01/05/2018. On the 06/08/2018 we found that she had an ectopic pregnancy which was 7 weeks old and needs to be operated within 5 hours. GEMS refused hospital Authorisation saying that they want to investigate if the pregnancy wasn't before Feb when she joined even though we told them it's 7 weeks old and we are in August and it was an Emergency operation. They gave me 4 days turn around time and kept to their word. I was stuck with a dying wife and had to make other means.

Now 4 days later GEMS is calling me saying they approve the operation i can take her to hospital, like really?

According to GEMS 7 weeks of pregnancy could have been more than 7 calendar Months?

5 hours for emergency operation is still valid after 4 calendar days?

Are we living in the same world GEMS?
