GEMS are ******ers

I am absolutely gobsmacked by the ******* i was told by GEMS today. My fathers chronic medication hasnt been delivered for the 2nd month now. When i call them, they tell me his membership has been cancelled because I did not respond to a communication to indicate if the member must stay active. Now never in my life have a heard of such bull**** who gives you the right to cancel a membership that is being paid for. I checked the last 6 months emails and found no such communication. Even if i did miss it im sure you could have called me before deactivating a membership. I was told by your consultant that I have to reapply and the waiting periods take effect again now im sorry but this is ridiculous. Now in this lockdown you are causing a lot of **** for me and also if my father were to die because of not receiving his medication i will take legal action against GEMS for ****ing an innocent old frail man. I asked to speak to a team leader and was told i cant be helped today. Now if my fathers membership is not reinstated today i will proceed with legal action.

I am disgusted by the manner in which my case is being handled. I have asked to speak to a team leader and was told one will contact me but still nothing, also I receive a sms telling me to accept the waiting period for a new membership which is absolutely ridiculous when the membership was deactivated by gems without my consent. I am now being told that a 3 month general waiting period must be served and an addition 12 months for pre existing conditions are you ****ing kidding me. My father has been a member for nearly 3 years and these waiting periods was already served. Above that you accusing me on not acting on a vague sms that does not explain the significance of the request nor the consequences if not adhere to even though my preferred method of communication is via email. In these uncertain times GEMS is being responsible for depriving a frail old previously disadvantaged man of nearly 70 years old from access to better health care which they took away without consent. It feels like a human rights infringement from a government institution in the midst of a pandemic when South Africans are suffering and there is no compassion showed from this government medical aid scheme. I will certainly be taking this matter up with the consumer council and also alert leading media outlets of how you guys mistreat your clients with your poor level of service and cancel a paying medical subscription for no apparent reason. All I want is the membership to be reinstated and to carry on as if there was no deactivation. I don't want to fill in a new request. I don't want to wait for 15 months. I'm hoping to hear from you soon with a reasonable response before end of business on 15 May 2020 or I will take the necessary steps to make myself heard as you are making my life very unpleasant at the moment and causing stress to an elderly man. If anything bad is to happen to my father during this time of not having medical aid his blood is on GEMS hands and I will do everything in my power for you to take responsibility

I just want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ms Salwa Allie for the manner in which she handled my complaint. She expressed absolute professionalism throughout the entire dealing of this situation, always kept me informed and stayed true to her word. From the offset I had no doubt that I was dealing with the right person, who understood my every concern and I know went over and above the call of duty to assist me. You are the epitome of customer service. I wish that every customer of Gems get to deal with you instead. May you go from strength to strength in your career and may your employer give you the recognition that you deserve. You have given me hope that Gems might not be so terrible after all. Once again thank you for resolving this matter and putting my heart at ease. Many of your colleagues can learn a thing or 2 from you with regards to how to treat people. Keep up the good work you doing.
