Funeral benefit application

Good day

I sent through a funeral benefit application on Monday via fax and email. I received an sms yesterday stating "there is outstanding information - corresondence to follow". I have tried calling the number but I was kept on hold for over 15 minutes due to "high call volumes" - no one responds. Please can someone tell me what is outstanding as I have sent through all the require forms/documents: Z300, Z894, certified ID documents of the deceased and applicant (souse), certified copy of the death certificate and bank statements of the applicant.

I have also sent through an application form/documents on behalf of my mom to continue her medical aid membership. Please advise if those forms have been received.

Please provide feedback urgently. The funeral cost is R25000 and we really need the benefit to be paid out.

Good day

Thank you for raising your concerns regarding your funeral benefit.

As per our telephonic conversation with you this morning, we can confirm that GEMS is not the administrator for the funeral policy and ask that you check your policy documents.

Please be advised that we require you to fill out the application form in order to ensure the continuation of membership for your mother.

We trust the above is in order.

Kind regards

The GEMS online team

Please revert back to my email. My mother can't afford to pay R3729 per month while we wait for the government subsidy to be approved - she is surving on a small pension alone. Please ask management if we can submit the forms and have the cover commence only when the subsidy is approved.

I can fill in the form with her banking details, but she doesn’t even have funds in her bank account to cover the contribution which means the debit order will bounce. This seems incredibly harsh and unfair on a spouse surviving on pension alone. Surely GEMS can allow cover to commence only when the subsidy is approved or from the 1st of September/October? Please advise.
