Expensive Mistake

We have been happy with the services rendered by GEMS up till now and this is due to one person at the Braamfontein Branch. Our baby was born on 22/12/2015 and on the 04/01/2016 my husband went to register him at the Braamfontein Branch. He was told that it will take up till 3 weeks for the baby to be registered. The lady who assisted him indicated that everything was in order and that our son will be registered and that we do not have to worry.

Our baby went for his 6 week check and the paediatrician's receptionist informed us that the baby was registered on GEMS and therefore the hospital bill for the paediatrician was not paid ... which was R 1 400.00. We had to pay the outstanding amount. Also our baby required the 6 weeks vaccinations at the clinic and once again we have to pay due to someone else's negligence. We called the call centre and they confirmed that our son was not registered.

We have to go back and re-register our son , which is ridiculous as it has been done.

Now my question is, will GEMS pay back our money which we lost due to them? As the R 1 400.00 was in hospital during my delivery and stay in hospital
