Been trying to stay on GEMS since March after main member died. Nobody has helped. Just getting the same robotic email reply as always. Been removed from membership now.

I've been trying since March 13th to make sure that I can stay on the medical scheme for a while. I'm a registered dependent for the main member. Unfortunately the main member died in February. I just want my brother and I (Both in our 20s) to be able to stay on the medical scheme for a year until we have our lives figured out. Both our parents are dead now and we're both unemployed.

I've been providing affidavits showing that we're still dependents since we were 21, but I can't do that now because the main member is dead.

In anticipation for being removed from the scheme in May, I started trying to contact GEMS and get this sorted out in time. I first tried to contact GEMS in March.

Today I went to the pharmacy and was told that my chronic medication won't be paid for because "MEMBER RESIGNED". This is not true. I did not resign. I did not consent to this. I've been trying to stop this from happening for 2 months.

I've had repeated correspondence with a woman by the name of Maria Dibetso. She has been unbelievably unhelpful.

Every time I get an email from her after asking for help she just says, "Please assist with continuation of membership" and cc's in ***. This has happened 3 times now.

I don't know what else to do. I've now been kicked off the medical aid despite trying to stop this from happening for 2 months. I have an outstanding bill at the doctor for R400 too because I was removed from the scheme.

I still want to remain as a member. I want to continue using GEMS until I can pull my life together after losing both of my parents in my 20s.

Please somebody help me. I'm getting extremely anxious, frustrated and desperate now.
