BAD SERVICE

I cancelled my Bestmed Medical Aid which was getting very expensive for me and joined GEMS as a government employee. When I contacted them they continued to provide the "estimated cost", which was less than what I was currently paying. The inefficiencies started even during my application process, where at times they couldn't even find the supporting documents I e-mailed. In March 2019 I wanted restructure my salary based on my new medical aid and needed the debit order amount confirmation, that was not forthcoming as I was given the "estimated cost" again, the implementers couldn't work on estimates and no one at GEMS could send me a confirmation even after numerous calls. I then immediately cancelled my GEMS membership 3 days after the membership was activated. I was told that I had to serve a month's notice, and was liable and covered for March and April. The debit order was only implemented in April which was way higher than the previous medical aid, which did not make sense as a government employee. I then joined Discovery, they could confirm my starting date and the amount that I will be liable for, I took this to the implementers and could structure my salary accordingly without any issues. Then in the month of May 2019 I discover that I not only paid for my new medical Aid, but GEMS has again dipped into my salary, and guess what even after I was told by a GEMS consultant to send my pay slip proving that I was debited so that they can refund me, I discover after confirming receipt of the pays lip that she made an error as they can only debit me in JUNE 2019. What is so infuriating is that I now have a shortfall in my monthly obligations and I must just wait until then because they cannot process it until then. I have never seen such incompetency in my life. And to top it off no one seems to care, not even a supervisor, manager has called me even with the consultations with the agents during some calls. You waste government resources with lengthy unresolved calls, who are you serving. If you cant even service the employees whom you were established for.
