Absolutely unacceptable maternity service – beyond stressful

I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the level of service I’ve received from GEMS Medical Aid, particularly their maternity and delivery services.

Since 27 weeks pregnant, I have been trying to receive my maternity bag. I am now 36 weeks pregnant and still have not received it.

I have been given contradictory information by multiple agents. One agent claims that delivery services have been trying to contact me, yet I have not received a single call, missed call, SMS, or email from anyone. Another agent then tells me I must first receive a call from a midwife — which has also never happened.

To make matters worse, no one can tell me which courier company is being used, so I cannot even follow up on my own. There is absolutely no accountability, no urgency, and no coordination.

This is my pregnancy — not a delivery of groceries. The lack of communication and care during such a critical time is deeply stressful and unacceptable. A medical aid should not add anxiety to expectant mothers; it should provide support and reliability.

At this point, I have lost all confidence in GEMS’ maternity services. I would not recommend this medical aid to any pregnant woman.
